An American businessman was standing at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish.

“How long it took you to catch them?” The American asked.

“Only a little while.” The Mexican replied.

“Why don’t you stay out longer and catch more fish?” The American then asked.

“I have enough to support my family’s immediate needs.” The Mexican said.

“But,” The American then asked, “What do you do with the rest of your time?”

The Mexican fisherman said, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take a siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos, I have a full and busy life, senor.”

The American scoffed, “I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds you buy a bigger boat, and with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats, eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats.”

“Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the consumers, eventually opening your own can factory. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise.”

The Mexican fisherman asked, “But senor, how long will this all take?”

To which the American replied, “15-20 years.”

“But what then, senor?”

The American laughed and said, “That’s the best part. When the time is right you would announce an IPO (Initial Public Offering) and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions.”

“Millions, senor? Then what?”

The American said slowly, “Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take a siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos…”

If you are using Joomla! 1.5+ and trying to cache with nginx or other caching server and at same time you don’t want to use Joomla! system cache plugin. You’ll face a big problem, that Joomla! is sending “Cache-Control: no-cache” and “Pragma: no-cache” in response headers.

Here’s the solution :

1. Edit the following file :

Joomla root/libraries/joomla/environment/response.php

2. Search for the following code :

if (self::allowCache() === false) {
self::setHeader('Cache-Control', 'no-cache', false);
// HTTP 1.0
self::setHeader('Pragma', 'no-cache');
}

3. Comment this if condition, to be as follows

/*
if (self::allowCache() === false) {
self::setHeader('Cache-Control', 'no-cache', false);
// HTTP 1.0
self::setHeader('Pragma', 'no-cache');
}
*/

Now, you can disable Joomla! caching, and run whatever caching server, as nginx.

Almost 1 year later since my last post, but it’s time to talk ! Let’s start with 1st topic, which ‘s CEO Vs. CEO.

and here’s the story :

2 weeks ago, I got a call from a friend who’s CEO of one of biggest 2 IT Companies in Alexandria. this company use .NET technologies. and here’s the call:
Hi Mahmoud, how are you ?? I need senior PHP Developers  for Full-time job for one or 2 months.

So, the requirements as follow :
1- Senior PHP Developer
2- Full time
3- job duration (1-2 months)

from my point of view, it’s impossible to make the 3 requirements.

The weird thing that he didn’t asked me , can you handle this task ?? what about outsourcing it to you ?? do you know anyone who can handle it ??

Here’s what I know about this company from some ppl in the market and ppl working there :
1- They’re about (Masha2 Allah) 25 developers.
2- Most of them are .NET and they just established new PHP Department.
3- Their salleries are not good at all. 
4- THEY THINK that there’s no good developers any more !! and they examed about 150 developers and they all failed !!
5- Sometimes they’ve restrictions in hiring new people ( they must be Computer science or passed by ITI Training program or something similar )
6- When you visit there, you feel yourself in bees cell !!

Ok ?? done with 1st CEO ??, now take a breath !!

2 days later from 1st CEO call, I got another call from the CEO of the 2nd biggest IT Company in Alexandria (Yes I’m Lucky all calls from CEO ) . and here’s the call :
2nd CEO : Hi Mahmoud, how are you ?? we’ve a job and we want to outsource it to you,  ….. (Job Details)…… , how much will it cost 
ME : $600
2nd CEO : Ok, let’s say $1000
ME : No, $600 is enough for me, and I’ll be satisfied
2nd CEO : No, we can’t sign a contract less than $2000, so we’ll get the half and you the half
ME : Ok, No problem, Bye.

at this time I GOT A BIG SHOCK !! 90% of the people am dealing with would say Mahmoud, Please do it for $500, Although they’ll take $3000 !!

This company, has it’s name in the region, and now starting to get it’s name bigger worldwide.

Here’s what I know about this company from some ppl in the market and ppl working there too :
1- They’re about (Masha2 Allah) 25 developers too.
2- They’re using open source technologies, mostly Ruby on Rails.
3- Their salleries are good.
4- They’ve no (education) restriction about hiring new people.
5- When you visit there, you feel yourself in fun house !

Now, the story ends. and only my thoughts remaining…

last friday, I saw a twitt by BCC Arabic on tiwtter that Obama won Nobel Prize, so I clicked the link & found it real story, so I was 2nd one to comment. then I got a call from UK asking me to send a small video clip recorede by webcam or mobile cam with my opinion, but max. to send it on friday !! I said it’s ok but I forgot to send it a friday.

then they called me again on sunday, asking for the video !! So, I felt these guys is working hard on this issue. and they respect their readers. so, I recoreded using my new laptop’s web cam. and sent it to them. and they published it.

5 minutes ago I was preparing a Nescafe Cup and after I’d opened the packet I found a piece of PLASTIC !! the most strange thing that if you tried to rub it, it’ll be a powder exactly like Nescafe !! so, does Nestle add some plastic to Nescafe Components ??

2 months ago, I went to a place where there’s no WiFi Connection, but there was a land-line phone, and when I tried to create a new dial-up connection to plug the landline phone cable, I found the option is DISABLED, when I back home I spent over 2 days trying about 4-5 solutions by microsoft itself and nothing works !! and finally find a the solution !

This solution should works for :
1. Cant create a dial up connection
2. Can’t start “Remote Access Connection Manager” service, Error 126.

Solution :
Put your Windows CD in the drive
Close any autorun
(sens.dl_ is located on the Windows CD in I386 folder)
Go to a command prompt (Start->Run->CMD)
Change to your CD Drive letter (ie type D: then enter)
Change Directory to I386 folder (ie CD I386)
Type the following command:
expand sens.dl_ %windir%\System32\sens.dll
(answer yes, if overwriting existing file)
Remove the Windows CD
Restart the computer
